We’re looking for new Trustees to join our Board

The Sustainable Land Trust (SLT) is a registered charity based in rural East Leicestershire close to the Rutland border. We are dedicated to addressing the effects of climate change through the conservation and preservation of our ecosystems. Our aim is to communicate, educate and inspire individuals and communities to participate in activities which deliver both sustainable change and enrichment of local landscapes and demonstrable improvements to the health and well being of disadvantaged individuals.

Our work focuses on two principal areas:

• Supporting vulnerable young people and adults with learning disabilities to become more resilient and independent, learn a range of rural skills, achieve qualifications and improve their health and wellbeing outcomes.

• Working with local communities to identify, develop and deliver projects which protect and enhance landscapes, improve biodiversity and widen access to public open spaces.

To help us grow and expand this work, we are seeking to recruit Trustees to join our Board to ensure the SLT fulfils its responsibilities as a charity and successfully delivers its strategic aims and objectives.

If you share our vision and desire to support communities and individuals so they can enjoy and benefit from the natural environment we would like to hear from you. We are particularly seeking individuals from a range of backgrounds, including (but not exclusively),legal, compliance, financial management, business development, marketing and PR and secretarial.

We wish our Board of Trustees to be as diverse and inclusive as possible so we welcome applications from individuals from under-represented groups and backgrounds.

The Board meets remotely for approximately 2 hours once a month, with the occasional submeetings on specific topics as required. As volunteers, reasonable expenses will be paid.

To apply please forward your CV and a covering letter to:

Robert Miles, Chair of Trustees, c/o Burrough Court, Burrough on the Hill, Melton Mowbray, Leics LE14 2QS or via email: rmiles@sltrust.org.uk
