Carsten Pigott
Chairman
Carsten is a retired senior diplomat, management consultant and visiting university lecturer, with a long-standing involvement in voluntary work, both in the UK and overseas. He and his family moved to Oakham in 1997 and he joined VAR, initially as a staff member, in 2009. Elected a Trustee in 2012, he’s been its Chairman since 2013.

Jeremy Millar
Vice Chairman
Jeremy is a retired NHS hospital CEO, and healthcare consultant both in the UK and abroad. He’s a former Herefordshire County Councillor with Cabinet responsibility for children’s wellbeing; a retired Magistrate with previous Police Authority roles; and has held several trusteeships with a number of national and local healthcare and educational charities.

Archie Sains BEM
Trustee
Archie trained as an Agriculturalist and spent his whole career in the meat industry. On the basis of that experience, he was recruited as an adviser to the British government, as well as to the EU in Brussels. He moved to Rutland in 2001 and has been active in the voluntary sector since then, working as a VAR volunteer driver, with LOROS, and at the Rutland Museum.

Graeme Baines
Trustee
Graeme is a retired programme manager with over 40 years’ experience in the aerospace sector. His career included work around various locations in the UK, mainland Europe; India; the Middle East and USA. Prior to retiring Graeme established and managed an independent consultancy business based in Rutland providing project management and business management services.
Graeme moved to Rutland in 2003 with his wife having lived here briefly in the 1980’s. Since retiring Graeme has been involved with a number of local charities in the Rutland area.

Una Ozga
Trustee
Una is new to Rutland having lived abroad for some years. During a varied career she has worked with volunteers in both the public and voluntary sectors. While living in Norwich, she was a City Councillor and a member of Norwich Health Authority.

Sarah Press
Trustee
​Sarah has a career background which spans marketing, psychological therapy and education from primary to degree level. She has engaged in voluntary activities since childhood. In the Rutland area since the 1990s, she has been involved in community and not-for-profit groups with a focus on communication, caring and health issues.

Stewart MacDonald
Trustee
Stewart retired to Rutland in 2018. He spent his career in the manufacturing sector both in the UK and overseas. Latterly he was Managing Director and then Chairman of a large manufacturing business with operations in the UK and Asia. Stewart also spent 7 years as President of a large European Trade Association.
